Google calling !

BITS Pilani had a Code Quest organised by Google on 9th March. And guess what me and Subhadip were declared the winners (team 49)! So we are awarded an all expenses paid trip to Google Complex, Bangalore. We are hopeful for an exciting time ahead when we get to know the Google guys and explore the place. We shall represent BITS Pilani as its winning team. We shall also get to know the winning teams from other top engineering colleges in India.

Some things that are quite exciting include:

1. Travelling to Bangalore and back by Air Traffic, paid by Google.
2. Two nights' stay at Chancery Pavillion, paid by Google.
3. We get to witness the grand finale of Google Product Prodigy and cast votes for two best products that suit our liking.
4. Google product demos at the cafe`.
5. Product Engineering Conclave 2008 at Taj Westend
6. Panel discussion on fostering product innovation and engineering in India – we have confirmations from the following to be on the panel:

o Ashish Gupta – VC and Entrepreneur

o Sharad Sharma – CEO, Yahoo! India

o Prof. Jayant Haritsa – IISc

o C. Mohan – Chief Scientist, IBM (The photo reflects dedication.)

7. Interaction session ( That's our time! )
8. Return to Delhi through air, again paid by Google.
9. I can have a taxi for a sole and singular myself and still Google will pay me for my journey between Pilani and Delhi.

Btw, our Rishikesh trip was excellent. I still feel like going back to the camp where I stayed on the banks of Ganga. I want to raft again sitting right at the front position and conquer the powerful splashes of water that the river throws at me. I want to feel that fear and anticipation again like when I was nearly thrown into the rapid waters with edgy rocks by the combined force of two water waves. And if I happen to visit the place again, I shall surely have a go at Blankchit playing with the chilly breezes, eyeing the latern lights and distant forest fires.
I shall detail this trip here sometime when the sun rises high, so that you can have some solace reading it.

Had a great Holi! People seem more interested in looking at a man lose his top.

NSS work has kicked off again in the Computer Literacy Section. BITS has finally provided the project Palash with five computers. We have an enthued team of co-ordinators and first yearites. We have receving great educational materials from outside resources which include people from IITB and Parichay. The rehearsal of the programme will start within 3-4 days in Raila school. It was fun working on win98 for us.

Maharashtra Mandal is gearing up for its annual magazine Ankur where the guys and girls can scribble down their thoughts and get them published for public reading. I see a truly exciting topic to write in Mayboli Marathi.

The Wing has returned along with Belsare's laptop. So that means Wing boots in a fresh new chocolaty phase where we have bellies with bigger diameters, Ducktales musics and potentially legendary stories of 8 time formatting, crashing open-offices and try in unity to change the kernel of the way computers are looked upon by people.

Finally the final thing that could not stop coming out is that ... I have cracked ES2. The topper is 111 out of 120 and I stand at 56+51.5=107.5. Just don't ask me how do I know it before anybody has got the quiz papers. :P (Disco you are next!)

On a leaving note, do pay a visit to this link sometime or the other and have the pleasure of fooling your friends. Do google out the tricks of this site before you fool anybody.

Congrats! Great to see some Pilani representation.

I was counting the number of times you used paid by Google, Google PR will be very happy by the effort. You have put Scoble himself to shame :)

Point 1 and 8 are essentially the same. Tsk tsk, Google doesn't like redundancy.

Thanks a lot! We are also quite excited to interact with other colleges' representatives.
During the next two days, I really hope to find out what Google likes.
Anyways, clean bowled. :)
